What is Stress?
Stress is the “adverse reaction people have to excessive pressure or other types of demand placed on them”.
The stress bucket helps people to understand the consequence of taking on too much stress.
The water that fills the bucket as shown in the picture is all the stressful contributing factors life throws at us. As the stress/water fills the bucket, the water level starts to rise until the bucket is nearly full. What happens when the bucket it full? It overflows! Or similarly we have a break down, we cant take any more.
So the good news is that the stress bucket has drainage taps. These taps help to keep the water/stress from overflowing. The tap represents all the things we do to de-stress. So by keeping the drainage taps flowing and not allowing our stress buckets to fill and overflow, we maintain control of our stress levels, preventing burn out from happening.
