Breaking Barriers: We delivered the first UK’s First Deaf Personal Trainer Course

We are proud to partner with WorldWide Deaf Gym to launch the UK’s first Deaf Personal Trainer Course. Earlier this year, we successfully delivered our pilot programme and qualified six Deaf and hard of hearing learners with Level 2 Gym Instructor and Level 3 Personal Trainer qualifications.

Since then, some of our graduates have already secured roles in the fitness industry and contributed their time voluntarily to promote health and fitness within the Deaf community, in partnership with World Wide Deaf Gym. This is just the beginning, our mission is to keep breaking barriers and opening doors for Deaf individuals across the UK.

Why This Matters

The Deaf community faces significant barriers in the fitness industry, from communication challenges to limited representation among trainers. By qualifying more Deaf fitness professionals, we are:
✅ Creating a more accessible and inclusive environment in gyms
✅ Building confidence and representation for Deaf gym users
✅ Supporting both physical and mental wellbeing

We also recognise the ongoing mental health challenges within the Deaf community, often linked to:

Isolation and communication barriers
Limited access to specialist support
A lack of Deaf-aware fitness and wellbeing services

Together, Inner Peak Wellbeing CIC and World Wide Deaf Gym are committed to delivering more courses, raising awareness, and providing opportunities for Deaf individuals to thrive in the fitness and wellbeing industry.

Fully Funded Courses – Backed by Sport England

Thanks to funding support from Sport England, these courses are completely free for participants. Our goal is to make fitness qualifications accessible to as many Deaf individuals as possible.
